'Vortex Race Team' was formed in early 2010 by a small group of Scottish based riders looking to make a difference to cycle sport locally & nationally. Over the next few years the 2012 construction and opening of the 'Chris Hoy Velodrome' for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 will change the sport forever, Vortex RT want to be ready for the changes that are going to take place and the club ethos is based on helping these inevitable changes take place smoothly, while getting riders experienced and competitive in the kinds of events that will become common in the velodrome.

Vortex RT will also be promoting a number of events each year and members will be encouraged to help at other club's events to help support a sport which is mainly run by hard working unpaid volunteers. We will also seek to employ individual performance testing and the latest training techniques to develop the club's riders to meet their potential, riding events as a team is also going to be fundamental to the club's development. All members will be encouraged to compete in championship events across Scotland & the UK, some for experience, some for possible medals, e.g. the team will be racing against Olympic level competition in the 2010 British Team Pursuit Championships.

During the first year Vortex RT will be maintaining a cohesive and effective
team of racers, organisers & helpers, setting in place a structure
to meet the aims and aspirations of a cycle club moving into
a new and exciting time for cycle sport in Scotland.
